Dr. Randal Pham, founder of the Aesthetic & Refractive Surgery Medical Center, is the first ophthalmologist and oculofacial plastic surgeon to receive the Best Clinical Science Award by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Randal Pham graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC Berkeley in Biochemistry. He obtained his M.D. degree with excellent citation from UCSF. He is also appointed to the faculty of the Department of Ophthalmology of the School of Medicine at Stanford University.
Dr. Randal Pham is the first surgeon of Vietnamese origin inducted into the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Pham is also the first surgeon in the Western Region of the US to perform Precision Laser Cataract Surgery with Catalys and he is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is nationally and internationally recognized as a pioneer in laser surgery of the eye and its related structures, particularly the eyelid and the face. He became the first surgeon to implant the multifocal ReSTOR intraocular lens for cataract and lens exchange surgery in Northern California. He was also the first surgeon to offer laser refractive cataract surgery in the western United States and the founder of Laser News, Inc. who is currently on the editorial board of Modern Plastic Surgery.
